QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q: What exactly are BCAA’s, and why are they beneficial?
A: “BCAA” refers to a group of three amino acids including valine, leucine, and isoleucine. They’re referred to as “Branched Chain” due to their interlocking configuration (the way they “hook together”) on a molecular level. These three amino acids together make up 1/3 of muscle protein, and may be used directly by the muscle as fuel. They also may aid in sparing other amino acids from being catabolized.
Q: Why does AdvantEdge Soy contain 17-19 grams of sugars per serving?
A: Normally, that many grams of sugar would not be optimal if you are following a program that is designed to lose fat. However, the sugars in the AdvantEdge Soy are derived from crystalline fructose, and while that is considered a sugar, fructose has a very low glycemic index rating and may not predispose the body to storing more fat. It also contributes significantly to the taste and flavor of the product, and promotes replenishment of liver glycogen.
Q: Would AdvantEdge Soy be a good choice in protein supplementation for vegetarians and vegans?
A: Yes. There are no animal products whatsoever in the AdvantEdge Soy, so it would be an excellent choice of proteins for those unable to consume animal products.
Q: Would I be able to use the AdvantEdge Soy exclusively for fulfilling my protein needs?
A: You may do so, but keep in mind that there are many advantages to obtaining your proteins from a variety of sources. For vegetarians and vegans, however, soy protein isolates contain the highest amino acid profile of any vegetable protein. Under those circumstances, using the AdvantEdge Soy may be their best option.
Q: How does soy compare to other protein like whey?
A: Soy protein is one of the highest quality proteins available, ranking right up there with whey. It is also very low in fat and cholesterol, and has been shown in studies to help reduce the risk of heart disease.*
*Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 25 grams of soy protein a day may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of AdvantEdge Soy provides 20 grams of soy protein.
